Soft launch a block

Turning on a block is the moment Sanitized AI starts stopping people’s work. If a guardrail turns out to be noisier than expected, you usually find out through complaints.

A soft launch gives you a safe way to find out first: the guardrail warns for 14 days, and then starts blocking on its own.

How it works

A soft launch connects two enforcement actions. A guardrail set to Nudge warns but lets people through. One set to Block stops the prompt. A soft launch schedules the move from the first to the second.

Start a soft launch

1. On the Guardrails page, open Guardrail Catalog and find the guardrail you want to block.
2. In the Enforcement column, choose Block. The Enable hard block? dialog shows what the block would have caught recently.
3. Click Start as a nudge for 14 days.

The guardrail now appears in the Scheduled card on the Enforcement Policy tab, with the date it becomes a block.

What your team sees during the window

Nothing changes for them yet. The guardrail behaves like any nudge: the Security Check warning appears, they can sanitize or edit, and they can still click Send Anyway. Every override is recorded, which is the point of the window.

Tell people what’s coming

The warning doesn’t announce the upcoming date by itself. To let your team know, edit the guardrail and add it to the Warning Banner Note, for example This will be blocked starting August 11. See Explain a guardrail to your team.

What to watch

During the window, open the Events page and look at the Overrides card.

• A high override rate on this guardrail: it probably fires on data that isn’t sensitive. Fix the guardrail, or cancel the soft launch, before it blocks real work.
• A low override rate: people sanitize or edit instead. The block will go smoothly. Let it happen.

On the date

The guardrail becomes a block for everyone at the same moment. There’s nothing to run or confirm.

Cancel or block early

Both are available at any time during the window:

• Cancel: in the Scheduled card on the Enforcement Policy tab, click Cancel. The guardrail stays a nudge.
• Block now: in Guardrail Catalog, set the guardrail’s Enforcement to Block and click Enable Block. The block applies immediately.

Caution

Changing the Enforcement column doesn’t cancel a soft launch. If you switch the guardrail to Nudge or Monitor during the window, it still becomes a block on the date. To stop a soft launch, use Cancel in the Scheduled card.
