See real details in AI replies

When you sanitize a prompt with Replace with Fake Data, the AI tool gets made-up details instead of your real ones, and its reply uses the made-up details too. To make the reply easier to use, the extension can show your real details in the reply. This happens only on your screen. The AI tool never sees your real details.

Your organization decides whether this is available. It’s on unless your admin turned it off.

Turn it on for a prompt

  1. When a prompt is flagged, click Sanitize Prompt.
  2. Turn on Replace with Fake Data.
  3. Leave Show the real details in the reply turned on. It appears under the fake data switch.
  4. Click Insert Sanitized. The prompt is sent with the fake data.

When the reply arrives, your real details appear in place of the made-up ones. A bar at the top of the page shows how many details were restored, for example 3 details restored on your screen.

Switch between the two versions

  • To see the reply exactly as the AI wrote it, click Show what the AI saw. The bar reads This is what the AI received.
  • To go back to your real details, click Back to my version.
  • To shrink the bar, click the More options menu (⋯) and then click Hide. Click the small bar to bring it back.
  • To stop showing real details on this page, click the More options menu and then click Stop restoring.

Good to know

  • Your real details are kept only in this browser tab. They’re cleared when you close the tab or the browser, and after 24 hours at most.
  • Later prompts in the same tab reuse the same made-up details, so the conversation stays consistent.
  • If you copy text from a reply while your real details are showing, you copy the real details.
  • Real details are never typed back into the prompt box.
  • Some kinds of data, such as passwords and keys, are never shown again.
  • If you turn off Show the real details in the reply, the extension remembers your choice.
